Effective Recreation Opportunity Set (EROS) Index: A Computable Measure of Recreation Supply

Abstract

The EROS Set index is an economic measure of the abiliability of recreational opportunities to households and was developed for use in the 1989 Renewable Resources Planning Act Assessment. EROS indicies are loacation specific, and can be calcualted for any desired recreational enviorment or opportunity set using existing resource, population, and recreational trabel behavior data.
